LAWYERS
Lawyers include solicitors and barristers. They are trained and licensed to advocate on behalf of people with legal issues that need addressing. Lawyers can offer assistance by way of advice to clients on the legal options available to them; act as mediators or arbitrators; represent clients in the law courts; and carry out a myriad of services in various transactions in which there are legal implications.
Unfortunately, lawyers in Ghana are not allowed to advertise themselves so potential clients may need to find lawyers through some personal research and industry. When you are uncertain whether a lawyer is indeed a lawyer or is licenced to practice, you may check with the General Legal Council or Ghana Bar Association (GBA). The GBA however is an association and therefore lawyers are not obliged to be members of the association although most are.
